Whether you're upgrading a worn-out patio door, opening a new wall to bring the outdoors in, or converting a standard doorway to a space-saving sliding configuration, Sebastian Sliding Doors handles the full installation from start to finish across Long Beach. Our team has installed hundreds of doors in neighborhoods from Alamitos Beach to Los Altos, and we understand the structural, coastal, and code requirements that apply to every project here.
We work with all door types β single panel, double bypass, pocket, and multi-panel accordion systems β and we source from leading manufacturers or install customer-supplied doors. Every installation includes full weatherstripping, hardware setup, and final calibration so the door operates flawlessly from day one.
Installation Types We Handle
- Patio door replacement β swap out your existing sliding glass door for a new energy-efficient unit in the same opening.
- New opening installation β we handle framing, header sizing, structural modifications, and finishing on new openings in exterior walls.
- Bypass closet door install β two-panel bypass systems for bedroom and hallway closets of all widths.
- Pocket door conversion β convert an existing hinged doorway to a pocket door to reclaim floor space in smaller rooms.
- Multi-panel / accordion systems β fold-flat patio wall systems that open an entire room to the outdoors.
- Screen door addition β add a sliding screen to an existing patio door opening that currently has none.
- Commercial sliding door install β storefronts, office dividers, and commercial patio enclosures.
Our Installation Process
-
Site measurement and consultation. We measure the rough opening, assess the header, check the sill for level, and advise on door size, glass options, and frame material best suited to Long Beach's marine climate.
-
Old door removal and opening prep. We remove the existing door or create the new opening. We protect your interior during demo and dispose of old materials responsibly.
-
Frame and structural work. We set the sill pan flashing, install king and jack studs as needed, and ensure the rough opening is square, plumb, and at correct rough-opening dimensions for your chosen door unit.
-
Door unit installation. We set the frame, shim it level and plumb, fasten to the framing per manufacturer specs, and apply flashing tape on all seams. We never skip the flashing step β water intrusion from improperly flashed sliding doors is one of the top causes of wall rot in coastal Long Beach homes.
-
Hardware and weatherstripping. We install all handles, locks, and security bars. We fit the weatherstripping to achieve an airtight perimeter seal tested against a business card β if it slides freely at any point, we adjust until it doesn't.
-
Roller adjustment and glide test. We set roller height and tilt, then test-glide the door 15 times with increasing force to confirm it tracks true and latches cleanly every time.
